Not just any vegetable is good enough to be a Birds Eye® vegetable. We demand superior quality—just like you do. In fact, our standards, higher than those established by the USDA, are based on what our customers tell us they want most from frozen vegetables. All of our vegetables must provide the ultimate in taste, color, texture, and tenderness.
Those guidelines influence every step in our growing and freezing process. It begins each winter when we invite the very best growers to join the Birds Eye family as our "master gardeners." They prepare their best fields and plant select seed varieties proven to yield Birds Eye quality (many seeds apply; few are chosen). Each crop is carefully tended, checked daily by Birds Eye field experts, and harvested at the peak of ripeness.
Fresh picked vegetables are delivered within hours to be cleaned and quick-steamed to lock in color, nutrition and taste. The vegetables are finally flash-frozen: each whole or cut piece of vegetable to zero degrees Fahrenheit or colder within just a few minutes. One more check from our quality inspectors and we know the veggies are ready to meet your high standards, too.
